About Us

Chamonix House was formed in 2016 by husband and wife team Nick and Jess Rochefort.  Both lovers of all things home, they bring decades of sourcing and selection experience with them.

Chamonix opened as a small antiques store in rural Scituate, Rhode Island where Nick and Jess currently reside with their daughters, Alice and Jane. The store was voted “Best Eclectic Antiques” in 2017 by Rhode Island Monthly Magazine.  After three years of operating a physical location and selling at the Brimfield Antiques Market, Chamonix closed its physical location and shifted to an online only retail platform.

Rather than focusing on a specific era or style, Chamonix sources items with intrinsic value and style from all times - handmade rugs, hand carved furnishings, hand blown glass or designers of note.

The selection is varied and always evolving with a current focus on Antique and Vintage Persian rugs, Contemporary Art and Posters, and Objects for the home.   Items are sourced from all over the globe - from New England auction houses to European art and rug sources.

Chamonix will soon be expanding their offerings to include a custom home fragrance line to help your house smell nice, too.

Goods from Chamonix have found homes in NYC restaurants The Flower Shop, Speedy Romeo and Relationships NYC as well as retailers Jayson Home, One Kings Lane, ABC Carpet & Home and Urban Cowboy Nashville.

About Nick

Nick grew up renovating and furnishing his family’s rental properties by searching for the best finds at flea markets and antique auctions.  Homes and home design were part of his life from the start along with his innate sense of humor and salesmanship.

Nick has been in the antiques business for over ten years, starting as a dealer at the Rhode Island Antiques Mall where he and Jess met.

In 2013, Nick and Jess moved to Venice, California where Nick worked as a television comedy writer and producer.  After several years in the entertainment industry it was time to head home to Rhode Island and start something new and Chamonix was born.

About Jess

Prior to starting Chamonix with Nick, Jess worked as a Buyer of Ladies Apparel and Home Furnishings for TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Homegoods in both their Boston and Los Angeles offices.

Jess traveled regularly to NYC, LA and internationally to source and design apparel and home product for 2000+ nationwide stores. She has worked with hundreds of brands including Levi’s, Free People and Ralph Lauren Home.

After over ten years in the business, corporate life grew tiresome and the focus turned to sourcing items for their own home and Chamonix. With the arrival of their daughter Alice, Jess brought Chamonix online so her and Nick are able to spend more time together as a family.
